Yin Yoga & Trauma
1. November 2019 – 3. November 2019
Event Navigation
Yin Yoga became a popular yoga practice in which positions are held for a long time and without the use of muscles. While we linger silently in the yoga postures and are connected to our breath, we learn to perceive body sensations. Mindfulness is the basis of the Yin Yoga practice, so that the body can expand slowly and stress-free from the inside into the fasciae.
In our often fast-paced and information-packed time, many people feel overwhelmed to be quiet over a longer period of time. Current overload, old unprocessed memories, injuries (physical and psychological) and deep-seated traumas can emerge and prevent us from relaxing and letting go in the moment.
This is a weekend for yoga teachers and yin yoga enthusiasts.
Main topics
– The autonomic nervous system and its natural capacity for self-regulation
– What are traumas and how can I recognize traumatic stress in yoga practice?
– Difference between traumatic stress and natural arousal
– Practical first aid measures when traumas occur
In addition to the professional discussion and exchange on the subject of yoga and trauma, yin yoga sequences will be practiced, practical grounding and centering exercises will be presented and various meditation techniques will be shown which can support us when our autonomous nervous system becomes unbalanced due to traumatic events. The basis of the weekend is a friendly and mindful inner attitude towards ourselves and what we want to show through yoga.
